Frequently Asked Questions

Why did I receive an email on 5/24 that I have been assigned a reviewer when I haven't applied?
Apologies for the error! Our robots occasionally get their wires crossed. We've corrected the issue and removed the review checklists from all Greyshirts who have not yet made it to that application step.

How will I know my application forms are complete?
You can check on your forms anytime by opening the curriculum on your transcript and clicking through to the forms. They automatically fill with the information you've already entered.

How will I know when my application has been reviewed?
You will receive automated emails within 14 days of submission of both your initial and final application steps with details on administrative approval, position specific approval, ineligibility, or additional steps required.

How will I know what positions I'm approved for?
You will receive position specific approval via email. You may be approved as a General Greyshirt if you meet administrative requirements but not position specific needs. Approved Greyshirts will be added to the International Team Roster only after training requirements are completed.

What if I don't meet any of the position specific requirements?
You can select General Greyshirt on your initial application to apply as a generalist who meets administrative requirements for international deployment (passport in hand, availability, vaccines up to date).

Can I apply to more than one position?
Yes, in the initial application step, you can indicate which positions you'd like to be considered for.

Can I start my application if I haven't met domestic deployment requirements yet?
Absolutely, you can work through domestic requirements as you go through your application steps. Keep in mind, you will not progress to position specific approval if your domestic deployment requirements are not at minimum in progress.

If my application is returned for administrative reasons, may I resubmit?
Absolutely. You'll receive your application review via email with status, next steps, and details on how to resubmit for approval once you've taken corrective action.

Why are we making highly skilled applicants resubmit for administrative oversights?
Attention to detail is a trait we seek for those who we send overseas. Compliance is paramount to scaling our process and respecting the time of everyone involved. The devil is in the details.

How long will it take my application to be reviewed?
You'll receive your review within 14 days of each application step, in order. Your final application won't be sent for review until your initial application is approved. You will not be assigned a position specific reviewer until your final application is approved for administrative completion.

Why do I need a signed form from my physician?
We realize a trip to your physician takes time, but we want to ensure that all International Team members are ready and able to hit the field safely on international operations.

What vaccines are required for the International Team?
Vaccinations are only required for applicants who have passed initial application review. We require the following vaccines:
  • Tetanus
  • Yellow Fever
  • Typhoid
  • Measles, Mumps, and Rubella
  • Hepatitus A/B
  • Diptheria
  • Pertussis
  • Polio
  • Meningococcal
Members may upload either vaccination records, proof of titer immunity, or a vaccine waiver to validate vaccination requirements.

Why are you asking me to enter all my passport and vaccine info and upload a copy?
The uploaded copy validates that the data is real, the entered data allows us to track currency of requirements, remind you when you need to provide us with new documents, and ensure everyone on the team is ready to move when they're needed most.

I've already applied previously, do I have to enter everything again?
No, but we do need you to start at step 1 as we have added questions. You'll find much of the data is pre-filled as you access the forms with what you've provided previously, and your documents are in the appropriate folder if we had them.

Why is there no medical position for EMTs?
We require Paramedic certification or above to be deployed in a medical role, but you can let us know that you're a currently licensed and certified EMT in the initial application, regardless of position.

Where can I identify foreign language proficiency and international experience?
We ask members to list foreign languages and international experience on the Skills & Experience tab of their Deployment Profile. It allows us to collect better information on those particular skills, and makes the input a little easier to navigate. There's a link in the initial application direct to the Skills & Experience tab, or you may find the tab at any time on your Deployment Profile.

Can TR Canada or other TRx Greyshirts apply?
Not at this time. This application process is for US Greyshirts only. Please reach out to your in country leadership to ensure you are ready to deploy with your TRx.

Do I have to complete the training before my application is approved?
No. International training items are only required once you are approved for a position on the team.  Approved Greyshirts will be added to the International Team Roster only after training requirements are completed.

Can I bring my service animal?
